Annual Care and Menopause
It is especially important to maintain an annual schedule of check-ups in the period preceding menopause, as well as during the menopausal years. Our experience clinicians provide annual physical assessments. A comprehensive review of your medical history is needed to ensure continuity of your health and to implement preventative care.
Management of Diagnostic Testing
In collaboration with the Women’s Health & Outpatient Diagnostic Pavilion, a wide range of specialized diagnostic testing, focused on the special health care challenges of menopause, including urodynamic testing, bone densitometry (DXA) testing to diagnose osteoporosis, and gynecologic ultrasound. Every woman is different, therefore, diagnostic testing is specific to the needs of each individual. Our staff will thoroughly review your medical history during the consultation process to create an appropriate care plan.
Osteoporosis and Osteopenia
Together, osteopenia and osteoporosis affect 44 million Americans and cause two million bone fractures each year. About 50% of women aged 50 or older will have an osteoporotic fracture in her lifetime. These fractures result in pain, loss of mobility, and can even lead to death.
Women 50 or older who have osteopenia may benefit from the FRAX calculation tool, an advanced technology that evaluates an individual’s risk of developing a hip fracture or a major osteoporotic fracture of the hip, spine, wrist or shoulder. Those with 3% or greater 10-year risk of hip fracture, or a 20% or greater risk of a major osteoporotic fracture may be candidates for medication to prevent a fracture.
Siena Women's Health offers DXA screenings and full medical work-ups to develop a treatment plan for women who are diagnosed with osteoporosis and osteopenia.
Women’s bodies are ever changing, especially during the menopausal transitions. Our experienced team is here to help you understand and manage your symptoms. Our primary goal is to help you identify a treatment plan that fits yours needs and lifestyle. Let us be your partner in managing the transition.
